Do your existing reports have a pulse? Is there life behind the words you have written? Carry out this simple test to see!

If you use a report program
Ask a colleague to read out some of your reports from last year, omitting the names.
Can you identify which children you have written about?

If you use statement banks
Get a work friend or member of family to help you out with this. Take ten reports, and let your partner read them out. Listen for repeated words (participates/ enthusiastic/ efficient etc) or phrases. Give yourself a point for every repeated word, and three points for every repeated phrase. How many points do you think you will get? How many did you get?

If you write each report individually
Write a cheque for twenty pounds, and give it to a close friend, telling them the period of time you normally spend writing your school reports. Tell them that they can cash that cheque if they call you at any time in that period and you excuse yourself from social plans beacuse of 'school work'

If you have to write your reports by hand
We are all very sorry for you. Ask a friend what June and July were like. We are happy to tell you if you wish!
